2 day high level conference
The 5th Agribusiness Congress East Africa welcomed over 150 conference attendees who shared insights on opportunities and sought solutions for the challenges currently facing the East African region.
VIP exhibition tour
The congress’s VIP guests were taken on a tour of the outdoor exhibition where sponsors where given the opportunity to present their company and solutions to this high profile audience.
Live outdoor exhibition
For the first time in 2017, the event saw the introduction of the live outdoor exhibition where exhibitors had the opportunity to demonstrate the capabilities of their equipment to farmers, first hand. Farmers could also walk through crop trials and compare crop yields across multiple seed varieties, which were prepared by The Grain Council of Uganda.
Free to attend training workshops
Catering to the needs of the small scale and emerging farmers, visitors to the exhibition had the opportunity to sit in on free training workshops taking place across the 2 exhibition days. Topics covered innovative irrigation and water management solutions, access to finance for small scale farmers and disease prevention within the livestock sector.
Free consultations for farmers were provided by the regions leaders in agronomy. Farmers got one-on-one and practical advice on how to increase yields and gain farming success.
Companies participating in the agronomy pavilion included, Harvest Plus, QualiBasic Seed, The American Chamber of Commerce, Uganda and Farm Inputs Care Centre (FICA) Limited
The business matchmaking platform was launched in 2017, allowing sponsors, exhibitors and congress attendees to set up meetings before and during the event. Over 200 meetings were confirmed to have taken place over the 2 days through the business matchmaking platform.
Hosted Farmers programme
50 emerging to large scale farmers were given the opportunity to attend the congress and all related networking functions as our guests. In addition, through the help of our local partners and associations, organised transport was sponsored by the organisers to bring small scale and emerging farmers through to the exhibition so they were able to view and experience the solutions available to their farming operations, small or large. A total of 28 busses were sponsored.
